Harmondia Nunn
Founder & Educator
The Rosalyn D Foundation
Harmondia Nunn is the founder of The Rosalyn D Foundation, an organization created to honor her mother’s legacy through education, empowerment, and community impact.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Harmondia was raised in an underserved community where limited resources and educational inequities were a daily reality. Attending schools that were also under-resourced sparked a passion within her to not only overcome adversity, but to one day create meaningful opportunities for others facing similar challenges.
A proud Teach For America alumna, Harmondia earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Missouri–Columbia and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.
At just 24 years old, Harmondia was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and underwent seven rounds of chemotherapy. That life-changing experience deepened her understanding of resilience, compassion, and the importance of community support during difficult seasons of life.
Following her recovery, she joined Teach For America with the goal of not only making a difference, but creating a lasting impact in the lives of students and families. As an educator and advocate, she has witnessed firsthand how access to encouragement, resources, and opportunity can transform a student’s future.
Through The Rosalyn D Foundation, Harmondia hopes to continue building a legacy rooted in perseverance, education, family, and hope — ensuring that students are reminded that their circumstances do not define their potential.
Today, Harmondia continues serving students and families as an educator in Houston, Texas, where she remains committed to creating supportive learning environments and advocating for educational equity. Her experiences both inside and outside the classroom continue to shape the mission and vision of The Rosalyn D Foundation.
